My name is Vinnie Minichiello. I am the owner of CMX Choppers (formerly known as The Hot Rod Shop). We are located at 104 Beaty Lane in Summerville (out towards 17A & Dorchester intersection.) We built our new 6400 sq ft shop in July of 2003. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I relocated here in 1991. I am married to Lourie and have 2 children (Alec 17 and Charlsey 11). I have been building cars and bikes for 30 years.

I started with my brothers, Lenny and Sonny when I was young. They always had something going in my brother, Lenny’s garage. When I was 13, I purchased my own 1941 Willys. We did cars and motorcycles. This interest stayed with me through school. I took a job when I first came to Summerville working with street rods. I soon opened my own shop (The Hot Rod Shop). I built a wonderful clientele. I continued with mostly street rods. A 1940 Cadillac, which I built from ground up, made it to the Barret-Jackson Auction and brought 100,000. 00 to it’s owner in 1996.

After numerous car awards and features in custom car magazines, in 1996, my first try back at a custom motorcycle yielded a first place in Best Radical Custom award at the Charlotte Easyrider Show. This also gave me an invitation to Columbus, Ohio finals where I took third place overall. This bike made the cover of Keith Ball’s Hardcover Easyriders (Copyright 1997). In 1997, another one of my bikes took first place in Best Street Custom Class, Best Design and first place at the VQ Annual Invitational. Both of these bikes made it into the VQ Annual Top 50 Magazine (Issue No. 1).

Mike's Left Quarter2

In April 2006, we attended the Heritage Motorcycle Rally in Ladson, South Carolina. The bike we built for Mike Amerson placed first in the Pro Bike Class. This automatically places us in the Heritage Million Dollar Biker Build Off 2007. This is a wonderful opportunity! There are 15 builders in all. Arlen Ness, Eddie Trotta, Kendall Johnson, Aaron Greene, Roger Bourget, Bruce Mullins, Russell Marlowe, Roland Sands, Roger Goldammer, Paul Cox & Keino, Darrian Tefft & Mario Audia, Joe Martin, Jerry Burrows, John Dodson and Vinnie Minichiello. It is a great opportunity to be competing in a league with such legends as Arlen Ness, Eddie Trotta, Indian Larry’s Crew and many other talented builders!

Mike's Right Quarter2

The 2007 Heritage Biker Build-Off will air on ESPN2. There will be 13 one hour series. The first episode will be an overview of the 2006 show and a one on one interview with each builder. The following episodes will be of each builder at his shop building their build off bike. The final episode will be announcing the winners. First place winner is awarded $1,000,000, second place $15,000 and third place $10,000. Come check us out!!
