After 20 years of building custom choppers as a hobby, the founder of Don Gray Customs, Don Gray, turned his passion into a reality. In April of 2003 Don gave up his profession as in the construction industry and began building customs in Nashville, Tennessee. After exhausting research for components to customize the metric Yamaha Road Star into a sleek custom-built chopper Don parlayed his imaginative and technical know;lege to create new innovative ideas.

 In 2005, Don Gray was selected from thousands of applicants to compete in the Crusier division of the “Metric Revolution” television series featuring the best custom metric builders in the nation. The series is scheduled to air this spring on ESPN2. His “Twisted Angel” custom Roadstar amazed the industry experts during Las Vegas Bikefest 2006.

Using his custom frame design, a Road Star 1600 power plant, Morton’s exhaust, 63mm front end, RC wheels, ostrich/ stingray seat, and custom paint by Shane Brown, the bike came to life. Designated the "Tangerine Road Star", he debuted his design at Bike Week 2004 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Don went on to win numerous awards and trophies from shows in Sturgis, Rat's Hole, Star Days, and others. An overwhelming response of praise for his inital design came from industry giants such as "Wild Bill" from Pro Street Customs, Bob Starr, (no connection) CEO of Yamaha Road Star, Dave Nichols of V-Twin Magazine, Indian Larry, Josh Smith of Heavyweight, Mark Stoneman of Easyriders, Scott Britt of Britt Motorsports, Bobby Appleton from the acclaimed Appleton's Harley family and Glenn Road Star Magazine.

The hometown favorite in Nashville, "Titan Chopper," was developed to demonstrate a "one-off" ability to customize a chopper for corporate and individual buyers. A Harley engine and RC Components frame was used along with custom manufactured wheels, pegs, and logos. The seat is made from an actual NFL football split in half, and the paint is designed to match the Tennessee Titans colors. Master builder Don Gray has turned heads across the US with this awesome piece of machinery. He has teamed with Cingular Wireless, Circuit City, and Nashville radio stations to display this fan favorite at numerous autograph sessions, charity events, and grand openings

In the past year Don has created the “Celtic”, “Shark”, “Black Cherry”, and “Crusader customs. His unique style and commitment of excellence continues to amaze the custom motorcycle industry. Staying true to his belief that all customs are to be “built to ride not just show”, Don refuses to build $100,000 “couches”. Reviews of Don Grays works of art have appeared in V Twin, Road Bike, American Iron, Thunder Roads, and numerous other periodicals.
