For nearly 20 years WyoTech has hosted the Brute Horsepower Shootout, where competitors match up bikes from stock to those that are heavily modified, which post incredible outputs of horsepower on the school's DynoJet TM dynos. Competitors can squeeze more than 400 horses from a 1300 cc engine in Competition Classes ranging from small single cylinder bikes all the way up to the unlimited class. Winners get to take home prize packages. This fierce competition to produce the most horsepower in clearly defined classes never ceases to amaze at the power a motorcycle can generate. These beauties are intensely designed, meticulously built and closely tested to ensure accuracy.
Here’s a peek at two of the winners - Julio Shaheen’s 2006 Big Dog Pit Bull took top honors in the 124 cubic inch class while Wayne Loftain won the V-twin pushrod open class by generating 220 HP on a 140 cubic inch Sportster motor. Julio’s 2006 Big Dog Pit Bull was loaded with a Cycle-Rama built 124 cubic inch S&S EVO motor, Cycle-Rama Ported S&S heads, Cycle-Rama Custom cam, Cycle-Rama Step Drag pipes, Steve Allsteadt's Dual Carb set up and intake manifold. The bike was Dyno Tuned by Cycle-Rama which has an extensive Brute Horsepower winning history ( www.cycle-rama.com ).
