Hollister Independence Weekend
The Rally may be gone, but the birthplace of the American Biker still has one helluva celebration!
Photos by Bart Mitchell
For whatever reasons, the Hollister Rally may be no more, however, a substantial celebration still took place to commemorate the anniversary of The Wild One and the Birthplace of the American Biker. Roving reporter Bart Mitchell hit town Friday evening, July 1st in time to catch the party at Johnny's bar by the Boozefighters MC to mark the birthday of one of their founding members Vern Autry. The bash went into the wee hours, but that didn't prevent Bart from heading over later that morning to Corbin's Rider Appreciation Day. The day was full of cool events. On hand for a meet and greet was famous biker Sonny Barger. Boozefighters MC author Bill Hayes was autographing copies of his book "The Original Wild Ones: Tales Of The Boozefighters Motorcycle Club" and chatting with fans. Plenty of quality vendors were on site including Baker Custom, Inc., Zero (Electric Motorcycle Display) and Battistini's. Also open to the public was the Corbin Factory with live music, food and factory tours. Several poker runs were held during the weekend as well as a number of local drinking establishments welcomed bikers that made the trip to Hollister. Enjoy Bart's photo coverage of the weekend...
