Bikes “On the Green” Section Keeps Growing

“Gather on the Green” is an invitation only Concours d’ Elegance held on the back lawn of the Osthoff resort in Elkhart Lake, Wis. This event is planned in conjunction with the fall vintage races at Road America, in Elkhart Lake. It started out as a car show, but each year more and more classic motorcycles show up.
In past years, the bikes on display included such beauties as a Henderson Four with a fresh and perfect restoration. But this year, the number of motorcycles invited to the Gathering on the Green climbed to a new high.
The featured cars for 2015 were Jaguars and Allards, so it was no surprise that a number of English bikes were displayed. They included a rare 1964 Triumph Tiger land speed racer, a Vincent and a beautifully restored 1937 Brough-Superior. American-built bikes taking part in the show tended to be even older. There were several Harley-Davidsons and an Indian with lots of patina.
The Gathering on the Green took place September 19. Spectators were able to enjoy a cocktail while viewing a spectacular display of motorcycles and cars. The Swingtime Band provided live entertainment.
Robert L. Prince of Grafton, Wis., is a key person behind the show and spends lots of time scouting out bikes and cars to invite. To be considered for the 2016 show, send two photos of your classic bike to firstname.lastname@example.org.
