2012 Blazing Saddles Tour
The San Juan Inn (410 Alameda) in San Juan Bautista was the finish of last year’s ride & will be the starting point this year!  When the roosters begin to crow (Sign in is 7-8 am), we will begin our journey from the coastal hills above Salinas Valley to Monterey Bay.  Leaving the bay at Santa Cruz, we wander up through the Big Basin Redwoods to Alice’s restaurant.  We will follow the fence line of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and arrive in Contra Costa Country, with its scenic view of the California delta.  Riding over bridges and on delta levees we meander up the Sacramento River to reach the golden 49’er foothills.  Touring the foothills one will see the names from early California history such as Daffodil Hill, Fiddletown, Volcano, Rail Road Flat Rd., and Sheep Ranch Rd. until you reach “Murphy’s Historic Hotel.”  The “Angels Inn Motel” in Angels Camp is the overnight finish to the 335 miles of day one.
Day two opens with more gold rush history from Calaveras County including Copperopolis and O’Byrnes Ferry Rd. at the Tulloch Reservoir.  The roads of La Grange and Red Hills will take the riders past Don Pedro Reservoir to Cathey’s Valley.  The last leg will visit Mariposa and Millerton Lake before reaching the “Dog House Restaurant” 250 miles later in Fresno at the finish.
Cost of the ride is $20 for SCMA members and $25 for all others

May 28, 2012                                                              Riverside, CA
West Coast Thunder XIII Memorial Day Bike Run
West Coast Thunder first originated in May of 2000. Founded by Pat Delahunty, Steve Cifelli, Steve Aragon, George Helton, Lucky & Theresa Delaney, Rich Greenberg, and D.J. Quinn; Delahunty first thought of the idea in May of 1999 while watching the documentary Letters from the Trenches. The following day, he called some of his fellow H.O.G.® chapter members, and they organized a small ride to the Riverside National Cemetery to participate in their annual remembrance ceremony. After the ceremony, they decided to make the ride a tradition. Delahunty reached out to his friend, Don Odell, and the two have sat on the WCT board and played an integral role in the development of West Coast Thunder. That's where the event was born.
With the financial support from Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson in Riverside, California, the tradition grew in stride, doubling attendance each year. To this date, West Coast Thunder and has donated over $350,000 to the Riverside National Cemetery Support Committee. These donations help build monuments at the Riverside National Cemetery.
Each Year over 7,500 motorcyclists pack the street of Indiana Avenue in Riverside, California to celebrate the tradition of West Coast Thunder.  For this year’s information head to the website.

October 25 - 28, 2012                                               Las Vegas, NV
25th Annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals
Location:  -Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, Nevada.  As the next-to-last event that will decide the season’s NHRA Full Throttle world championships, plenty is at stake in Las Vegas at this event. Every run will be important because a slip at this point could be worse than snake eyes at the other Strip’s craps tables. The venue is the same as in the spring, but the weather may be different, making for high drama at an event where previous world champions have been crowned.
