Spokane, WA -- One of the nation's largest motorcycle rallies will rev up in Spokane Valley this summer. "100 Years of Motorcycles" 2008 rally and concert series will be held at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center July 25-27.
4th Annual Motorcycle Rally is Huge
Nearly 50,000 people are expected to attend from all over the country. By conservative estimates, at least $1.5 million will be spent in Spokane Valley as a result of "100 Years of Motorcycles." This event is ranked among the top ten motorcycle rallies in the country based on the attendance and input from the celebrity bike builders, according to Josh Bryan, a former stock broker from Spokane who originated the event.
"100 Years of Motorcycles" includes more than 30 celebrity custom bike builders, big-name bands, food and beer gardens, contests and displays featuring the latest in custom bike design, equipment and gear. A celebrity benefit ride, calendar girl contest and even a wedding ceremony are all part of the three-day event.
Several cities were hoping to draw the event, previously held in Rosalia, WA, but the staff (and motorcycle lovers) at Spokane Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau were able to convince organizers to bring their event to the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center
Spokane Valley Will Reap the Benefits
"This will have a huge economic impact for Spokane Valley," says Mayor Diana Wilhite. "Events like this only help to put Spokane Valley on the map and to get our name out there. Besides, a number of Spokane Valley city employees are bike enthusiasts and will relish the opportunity to see the latest in custom bike design."
When the event became too large for Rosalia, organizers began looking for a new location earlier this year. The Spokane Regional CVB convention sales team wooed the group to Spokane Valley. The CVB saw this event as an excellent opportunity for destination awareness and economic development for Spokane Valley.
