CASA GRANDE, AZ -- June , 2008--Saxon Motorcycle Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Dustin Jair Petty as its plant manager. In this position, Petty will manage the production team and oversee research and development with a specific focus on process improvement and partnership development.
Petty joined Saxon Motorcycle Company after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in construction and a minor in business. His academic achievements won him recognition as the Del E. Webb School of Construction's Outstanding Graduate and a place in Full Circle Magazine's Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering 50th Anniversary Student Spotlight. He was the recipient of numerous scholarships and grants and was named to the Engineering Dean's List for nine consecutive semesters.
While at ASU, Petty served as the National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter president, where he led the chapter to second and sixth place finishes in the Home Builder Institute's four-year schools competition and launched a Web site aimed to improve student-industry relations. He also completed an advanced level Spanish language program at the University of Granada in Granada, Spain, and was part of ASU's Barrett's Honors College, where he wrote a thesis titled, "Lessons in Management: Stories from a Father to His Son." The thesis chronicled the history of his father's business career and provided managerial commentary on the situations faced and lessons learned. Dustin Petty is the son of Saxon owner and co-founder Jerry Petty.
"I'm very excited to have Dustin become part of the business," said Jerry Petty. "His credentials speak for themselves, and I know that through his leadership, academic and work experiences at ASU, he will have a lot to offer Saxon Motorcycle Company."
Petty's previous work experience includes a position as team leader for the Del E. Webb School of Construction Build Team, where he oversaw a student team of constructors who built a house for the Metalcon steel building products convention in Las Vegas, Nev. The house was then donated to a disabled Iraq veteran.
