mccufflogoThe Honeymoon Goes On...

It’s been over six months since the unveiling of the OCC custom McCuff Chopper and owner Greg Castro still says “Orange County Choppers built us a McCuff Bike. Bert Baker himself did the ONE OFF transmission and this bike is THE MOST trick bike the OCC gang has ever built ! PERIOD !”
Greg continues “Here is what happened, in February 2008, we got approached by Sr. and he said "Hey Greg, I have been using your McCuff unit for about 6 months now and I WILL NEVER FILL UP WITHOUT IT AGAIN" !!!

Then he (Sr.) went on to say, "Hey Greg, would you be interested in doing a FULL episode of American Chopper"?  I said yes and the rest was history.  Paul Sr. also told me that he would like to endorse the McCuff as he really believes that it is a great tool and now we have a 3 year endorsement deal.”
When Greg commissioned them to do this bike build, he told them that he wanted something that was not ridiculous and NOT raked out 10 feet, but that he wanted a bike that rode killer, sounded killer and handled killer. They pretty much nailed it.
For the first time on the OCC show, they used a custom dual-drive Baker Drivetrain transmission that has pulleys on both sides, which caused some interesting redesigns.  Also, because McCuff wanted an innovative look, Jason (the designer) went with a "cool new fuel injected motor from S&S Cycle called the X-Wedge.".  To make sure the engine is the most prominent feature, Jason also picked a "cradle style” frame from Rolling Thunder that left the engine "looking like it's just floating in space ... it makes it look like it's all motor and hardly any bike at all." The X-Wedge has a computer monitored fuel injection which is something new to the OCC crew also when building Greg’s custom McCuff bike.  The exhaust pipes that cross under the seat pan form an unusual X-pattern exhaust that complements the X-Wedge engine, tightening the overall design aesthetics.  The back fender also works as the seat, oil tank and the shock absorber too.
And the rest, as they say, is history.  The bike was unveiled at the S&S 50th Anniversary Party in LaCrosse, WI on June 27, 2008. This gave McCuff the industry-wide exposure it wanted and it was good to unveil a bike honoring the X-Wedge at an S&S event.
Greg can’t say enough about his bike “Out of my 16 bikes, this one is truly the punchiest and is almost scary fast.”  He has been traveling around the country with the bike on various promotional tours and business at McCuff Industries is booming.  We’re happy to hear that and even happier to share the photo gallery Greg sent of this beauty with some other beauties, the “McCuff girls”, and crews from McCuff and OCC.
