Fellow journalist Paul Garson contacted us with some startling information over the weekend.  Two vintage motorcycles valued around $1.5 million were stolen from a Bel-Air home after robbers stormed the property and subdued the homeowner, vintage american motorcycle aficionado Jeff Gilbert.

According to Mr. Garson, "they stole his 1914 Cyclone and a 1952 CR110Honda racebike.  Cyclone is valued about at a million, Honda about 60K. Jeff had no insurance on them."  The Cyclone has a spotless reputation in collector and historical circles and has been displayed in the Guggenheim museum.  Its distinctive coloring will make it extremely difficult to hide and there is some concern in the motorcycle community that it may be "parted out" into several other bikes which would, in turn, be authenticated due to the parts from the Cyclone.
Police urged anyone with more information as to the names or whereabouts of the robbers to call Detective Alan Behnke at (310) 444-1540 during weekday office hours, or (877) LAPD-24-7 nights and weekends.
