Victory Motorcycles Announces Recall of Certain 2014 Models
According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, Polaris Industries, Inc is recalling certain model year 2014 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Eight Ball, Hammer Eight Ball, High Ball, Jackpot, Judge, Ness Cross Country, Vegas Eight Ball, Vision, Boardwalk, and 2015 Victory Gunner motorcycles manufactured January 22, 2014, through April 25, 2014. The crankcase may have been machined incorrectly causing insufficient clearance between the crankshaft and crankcase, causing the engine to unexpectedly seize. This seizure may cause the operator to lose control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall is expected to begin on May 1, 2014 and Polaris will be notifying owners and dealers in order to have the crankcase inspected and corrected. Owners may contact Polaris at 1-888-704-5290 for more information or go to www.safecar.gov or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for details.
So far, there have been no reports of engine failures or injuries from the public. Victory discovered the issue during quality control, according to Motorcycle-USA.com. The issue will be fixed free of charge.
