Hamsters USA Raises $253,330 for Special Kids at LifeScape Children’s Care
Proving again that bikers have big hearts for kids, the international motorcycle group Hamsters USA raised $253,330 for LifeScape Children’s Care of Rapid City in fundraising events this year, culminating with their annual gathering in Spearfish during the Sturgis Rally on Monday, August 4th.
Funds raised will provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies, plus psychological services, to children in Western South Dakota--plus parts of Wyoming--through LifeScape Children’s Care of Rapid City.
Hamsters USA has raised and donated funds at their annual meeting for the last ten years, wanting to give back to the greater Black Hills community, which many Hamsters consider their second home. Their gifts help provide services to children in their Black Hills area homes and communities, delivered by LifeScape Children’s Care personnel who drive over 10,000 miles a month to provide services.
Dan Roche honored with 9th annual Chrome Heart Award
Hamster member Dan Roche received the Chrome Heart Award, presented by LifeScape Children’s Care to honor individuals in the motorcycle world “whose philanthropic support and civic duty represents everything positive in the industry and sport of motorcycling.” Dan’s friends, Donnie Smith, Paul Yaffe, and Grady Pfeiffer accepted the award on his behalf.
Dan Roche, the owner of NC Machine and Tool in Winnipeg, Canada, has been serving customers worldwide from his family-owned business since 1977. One of Manitoba’s elite custom motorcycle builders, he is a longtime supporter of the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride supporting CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Roche was selected for the 2014 Chrome Heart Award for both his commitment to raising money for cancer research and education and his commitment to making sure the children in the Black Hills area get the healthcare, therapies, and attention they need to be successful.
Mr. Roche through his example inspires those around him to get involved and make a difference in the lives of mothers, fathers, friends and children. His personal and corporate generosity makes a difference in the health and well-being of children across countries and the health of those who love them.
