Ex-NASCAR driver and racing sports commentator Kyle Petty married Morgan Castano on Sunday, Dec. 13 Castano is the executive director of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America.
The annual cross-country motorcycle ride supports the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C., which raises money and promotes community awareness to benefit children with serious illnesses or injuries. Nearly 8,000 children have been able to attend Victory Junction at no cost because of the money raised through Petty’s motorcycle charity ride.
Kyle Petty and Don Tilley co-founded the Ride in 1995. Tilley—who passed away in August 2014—led the first 20 Charity Rides across the country and personally mapped out every KPCRAA route. The 2015 Ride served as a tribute to Tilley and was the last trip he planned for the Charity Ride.
“Each year, we select a route that’s full of breathtaking scenery, while also allowing us to spread the word and build excitement around our mission along the way,” Petty said in a media release. “Year after year, the Ride creates lasting memories for our riders, most importantly, it provides life-changing opportunities for children at Victory Junction.”
About 200 motorcycles participate in the Ride, which includes around 2,500 miles of cross-country touring. The last ride went from Santa Cruz, Calif., to Branson, Mo. Kyle and Morgan are currently preparing for the 22nd KPCRAA in support of Victory Junction and information about the 2016 event is available on his Facebook page.
The day that Kyle and Morgan got married he tweeted “I’m married! Yesterday, Morgan & I were surrounded by those we love. I feel blessed, she’s my soulmate & best friend.”
