The MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 Race at Laguna Seca on Sunday July 18, 2015 ended in tragedy when a multiple-bike crash resulted in the death of two racers.

Spanish riders Bernat Martinez, 35, and Daniel Rivas Fernandez, 27, both died of their injuries. Four other racers were taken to the hospital for injuries as well.

The crash, according to Roadracing World happened when Rivas lost power after launching from the start on row 3 of the grid. Following the safety rules, he put his hand up to alert riders around him, but other riders were not able to avoid him, which resulted in a multi-bike pile up.

Our sincere condolences goes out to each and every one of them as well as the MotoAmerica family. They are in our thoughts and prayers."
